The Sonic Residues lectures offer a diverse range of perspectives on the nature and practices of sound art. Luke Dubois, an artist, composer, and software developer, gave the Keynote on artwork he has produced utilizing techniques of data mining—bringing sonic and visual techniques to bear on the problem of finding pattern and legibility in large sets of information. Melissa Ragona, an Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, is speaking on the developing field of sound art, looking at both historical examples and current practices. Pamela Z. will be speaking from the perspective of the performer, discussing her work with electronic technology, sampling, intermedia and live performance.
