I remember worrying about this in elementary school. And then i took a bite of my sandwich.
You can often find anxiety, reluctance, internal dialogue, optimism and metaphor in the work. The art is in the everyday that brings us outside of the everyday. Art about why and who we are and do. Magical Sarcasm, I think of it as sometimes, with a smile.

"Many of the pieces on display were filled with symbolism. An installation by Shannan Lee Hayes of Port Jefferson explored the dicey relationship between the inner and outer self. She fashioned an intimate room filled with furniture found by the side of 25A in Port Jefferson. Poles posted on four corners were connected by wrapping straight lines of red string. Inside, two chairs were stitched together with the same red string to invoke intimate connections and obligations...”
