The Environmental Monitoring Diorama grew out of The Dawson City Trash Project. While scavenging for Styrofoam from the old Dawson City dock, I noticed that huge holes had been dissolved or eaten into the material. This had all happened underwater while the dock had been in service, meaning that there were chemicals in the local river that could dissolve Styrofoam. I used the damaged materials as the basis for a series of miniature northern landscapes.
