You have stumbled upon the collaborative art space "dredge." You must
be wondering what that animated machine is all about.
We are electronic media undergraduate
and graduate students (with some collaboration from our professor, Christa)
in the Art Department at the State
University of New York, Stony Brook, located along Long Island's north
shore where all sorts of odd things are dredged up from the waters daily.
We have been experimenting with the web as an art medium and we created
this "dredging" machine to help you find our work. Each layer of the sediment
represents one of us, so browse through the sludge until an icon you like
comes up, then click on the sediment bit to see what the machine will
dredge up. Or, if you know where you want to go, use the search list.
Please explore and if you still have questions send email to Christa.Erickson@sunysb.edu.
We opened 5/6/98 and last updated projects 9/19/05. Keep coming back.
We expect a dynamic site of revolving projects.
go dredge up some art!
NOTE: Because we are visual/multi-media artists, some of the site can be tough to see over a slow modem and you do need a quicktime plug-in and the Realplayer plug-in to see everything. Netscape or Explorer 4+ are the best browsers to use, although Netscape 3.0 should work except for one individual piece. If you have Explorer 3.0 or less, forget seeing any of the javascript functionality in dredge or any of the pieces. There is sound in places, so we hope you have speakers... We designed with small horizontal monitors in mind (640 wide and 480 to 600 tall) so you might want to reshape your window accordingly.
The counter came from Matt's Script Archive.
